I primarily study human forms and on occasion, landscapes. My strongest medium would be watercolor, but lately I’ve been working primarily in oil. I also do marker, pen, and ink work, especially with my abstract linear pieces.
My work, at least for the portraits and illustrations, tends to be finished “unfinished” pieces. It is beautiful for me to see the rawness of a line and the bold, clean contrast between pre-development and post-development. It's almost as if some parts of the picture is vanishing. The space lets the viewer posit their own interpretation and feeling.
I focus mostly on an expressed emotion; I favor a minimalist approach: conveying as much expression and emotion with as little as possible. I would say that this is mostly achieved through gesture, composition, and color. My paintings attempt to capture the intensity of the multiplicity any one person possesses.
